My first Bay Area project was personal: an ADU in my brother’s backyard in Berkeley. I took it on as an owner-builder, learning the ins and outs of residential construction one day at a time. It was challenging, hands-on, and incredibly rewarding. That project sparked a big shift in my life – from corporate construction management to helping homeowners bring their visions to life.
Since then, I’ve earned my California contractor’s license and completed a range of projects across the Bay Area. With each one, I’ve carried forward the lessons from that first build: clear communication, careful planning, and craftsmanship that speaks for itself.

FitzBuild is led by me, Michael Fitzgerald. I grew up in Ireland, where my love for building started young, spending summers on construction sites, learning by doing, and developing a real respect for the craft.
I went on to study Construction Economics and Management at Technological University Dublin and spent more than a decade in corporate construction, managing costs and projects for large-scale commercial builds across retail, food, and hospitality.
In 2020, I built an ADU for my brother in Berkeley, and that project changed everything. It reminded me why I fell in love with building in the first place and inspired me to create FitzBuild. Since then, I’ve focused fully on residential construction ADUs, remodels, and custom homes right here in the Bay Area.
What I enjoy most is pulling all the moving pieces together such as architects, engineers, surveyors, city permits, subcontractors and finishes so you don’t have to. My promise is simple: quality craftsmanship, clear communication, and a home delivered on time and on budget.
